
Welcome! My name is Marianna Lovato and I am a Lecturer in International Relations at Tallinn University, in Estonia. I hold a PhD at the School of Politics and International Relations (University College Dublin). I obtained my MPhil in European Politics at the University of Oxford and my BA in Political Science at SciencesPo Paris. My research interests revolve around European foreign and security policy,informality in global governance,international diplomacy, and negotiation theory.
My first book, Making EU Foreign Policy Go Round: The Significance of Informality for the Survival of Multilateralism, is forthcoming with Bristol University Press (out on 11 June 2026 in the UK and 7 July 2026 in the US).
My research has appeared in Geopolitics, the European Journal of International Relations, the Journal of European Integration, Comparative European Politics, the Journal of European Public Policy, and the Journal of Common Market Studies. Together with Ana Juncos and Heidi Maurer, I am leading the UACES research network RELATE (European Studies in a Relational Universe).
